The Federal Government has ordered the immediate closure of all land borders with immediate effect.
It also advised all Abuja and Lagos residents to stay at home.
The Presidential Task Force for the Control of Covid-19 announced these at a press briefing on Monday as part of additional measures to curb the spread of the Coronavirus. The announcement was corroborated by the personal Assistant on New Media to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation and chairman of presidential task force on COVID-19, disclosed that weekly federal executive council will be suspended till further notice.
“The council of state meeting earlier scheduled for Thursday has also been postponed,” Mustapha added.
This is following the increase in number of cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.
The cases in Nigeria have been on the rise in the past few days as 36 persons have tested positive for COVID-19.
