Buhari Approves CBN’s Request To Extend Old Naira Notes Deposit

The Central Bank of Nigeria requested that the time for switching from the old to the new Naira notes be extended, and President Muhammadu Buhari has granted that request.

In order to allow Nigerians to deposit their old notes at the CBN after the deadline in February, when the old money would have lost its legal tender status, a seven-day grace period, starting on February 10 and ending on February 17, 2023, has also been granted.

The President granted the go-ahead at a meeting with Godwin Emefiele, governor of the top bank, today at the latter’s country residence in Daura, Katsina State.
