Datro Fofana Fit And Ready To Play Against Arsenal – Frank Lampard

Published

Young striker David Datro Fofana could make his first-team comeback in Wednesday’s match against Arsenal, according to interim Chelsea manager Frank Lampard.

Some people were puzzled by Fofana’s recent absence from Chelsea’s offense during their goalless streak.

One of the few natural goal scorers in Chelsea’s lineup, the 20-year-old may not yet be at the point where he should start every game.

Since joining Chelsea in January, Fofana has made three appearances, including his complete Premier League debut against Southampton in February.

He was, however, hooked in that game at halftime, and he hasn’t even made the bench since.

Instead, Fofana had to play two games with the development squad in March, in which he scored a goal.

It is therefore quite a surprise that Lampard mentioned the former Molde striker’s possible inclusion against Arsenal

“Kai Havertz is in contention for the game, he’s trained this week,” said Lampard in Monday’s press conference when speaking about his striker options for the trip to the Emirates Stadium.

“We’ll see who starts. I’ve got [Pierre-Emerick] Auba, I’ve got Kai, I’ve got David Fofana.

“I’m not going to divulge the team but they’re all fit and ready.”

Unfortunately for Fofana, the possibility of his return arguably remains slim.

Havertz recently recovered from an injury and has mostly been the team’s first-choice number nine this season.

Aubameyang also featured for 45 minutes in the second half in the last defeat to Brentford.
