“I Will Faint If I See ₦1 Billion” –Former Adamawa Governor, Ngilari Says He Values Integrity Over ‘Chop-Chop’

Published

Former Governor of Adamawa State, Barrister Bala Ngilari, made a startling statement that left many in awe.

Ngilari, who served as the governor of the North Eastern state briefly between October 2014 and May 2015, found himself at the center of a corruption case, making him the first casualty of a court ruling since the return of democracy in Nigeria in 1999.

Speaking as a guest on Trust TV’s Daily Politics programme, Ngilari was asked if he had “like N1 billion of your own?” His response was nothing short of remarkable: “If I see N1 billion now, I will faint.”

He also shared a story about his political aspirations after leaving the governorship. Ngilari wanted to contest as a senator, but he faced a staggering obstacle: the party delegates were demanding N1 million each for their support.

He recalled, “I tried to contest for the Senate too under APC. I went round, toured and two, three days to the primary election, I called and reached out to the delegates through my director general and my coordinators.”
