Lawyers for Nnamdi Kanu sneer at “Fresh Terrorism Charges”

Published

Nnamdi Kanu’s attorneys, led by Mike Ozekhome, have been alerted to a widely reported but unconfirmed new seven-count amended complaint that the Federal Government is believed to have filed against Kanu.

Ifeanyi Ejiofor, one of Kanu’s attorneys, released a statement in which the attorneys emphasized that the putative new allegation had the same Charge Number as the one that had previously been decided upon and dismissed by the Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, and had not been overturned by any higher court.

According to Ejiofor, they have challenged the appellate court’s decision to the Supreme Court, halting the enforcement of its own judgment that had rejected the seven-count indictment brought against him by the Federal Government.

The Court of Appeal’s decision to dismiss all remaining charges brought against Kanu at the Supreme Court on October 13 was challenged by the government in an appeal that was submitted on same day.

The Supreme Court has not set a date for the appeal’s hearing.
