Man remanded by court in Oyo state for beating thief to death

A 29-year-old man, Aliu Oladeji has been remanded in a custodial centre by Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, for allegedly beating a thief to death.

Plea of the defendant who resides in Ayedaade area, was not taken by Magistrate, I. O. Osho who ordered that he be remanded in the Abolongo Custodial Centre, Oyo town, pending legal advice.

Oladeji was arraigned in court on charges of conspiracy and murder, with the prosecution counsel, Inspector Foluke Adedosu telling the court that he conspired with others in the area to commit the offence.

It was disclosed that on March 4, around 2.30am, one Sodiq was beaten to death by he and others.  The offence is contrary to Section 316 and punishable under sections 319 and 324 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.

Magistrate Osho who ordered that he be remanded in a custodial centre on Wednesday April 13, adjourned the matter until July 4, for mention.
