Petition: Presidential Election Tribunal Rejects Request For Live Stream Of Proceedings (Video)

Published

The PDP candidate for president, Atiku Abubakar, requested that the proceedings from the presidential election petition tribunal be streamed live for all Nigerians to witness, but the request was denied by the tribunal.

The court’s five-member panel, chaired by Haruna Tsammani, determined that the application was without merit. Remember how Atiku asked the court on May 7 for permission to stream the tribunal’s hearings live.

He claimed that broadcasting the proceedings will increase public trust.

Arguing the motion, Chris Uche, counsel for Atiku and the PDP, said “There is no single legislative or statutory position against it.” He said a live broadcast doesn’t necessarily mean the faces of the justices would be shown.
