Portable To Spend The Weekend In Police Custody

Published

Habeeb Okikiola, alias Portable, a controversial singer, was arrested and will face charges after the police’s 72-hour ultimatum to him expired.

Remember how the ‘Zazoo Zehh’ crooner was ordered to report to the police after assault claims were made? The singer will now be held by authorities through Monday.

The artist was detained on Friday, according to the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who also said that he was taken to the State Police Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.

In an earlier report by The Punch on Tuesday, the artiste was seen in two videos verbally assaulting and rough handling some police officers at his bar in Sango Ota, Ogun State. However, he claimed that “for no reason”, an alleged Internet fraudster had brought the police officers to his bar to arrest him and his staff members.

According to Oyeyemi, Portable was invited following a petition by a young studio owner who claimed that Portable together with his aides beat him to stupor and locked his studio.

He added that all the summons that were sent to the singer, he did not honour any of them.
