20 Die In Bauchi Road Crash

In a road accident along Bauchi, Maiduguri expressway near Tirwun village, a suburb of Bauchi capital city, at least 20 people were confirmed dead.

Ahmed Wakili, Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi Command, confirmed Channels Television’s crash, adding that the bodies were deposited in the ATBU Teaching Hospital Mortuary.

The accident happened on Sunday afternoon, according to Wakili, when two commercial vehicles collided: the Volkswagen Golf from Misau to Bauchi and the Hummer Bus from Jos to Maiduguri.

Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari has signed the Child Protection Bill into law. One of the vehicles was reported to have gone up in flames and its occupants got burnt beyond recognition. Out of 22 passengers involved in the accident only two survived and are said to be receiving treatment at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital Bauchi.
