2nd Year In Office Focus Point: Agriculture

Published

The last 2 years, the Imo State Government under the leadership of Gov. Hope Uzodimma has revamped the moribund Adapalm industry as it now provides a total of 10,000 tonnes of palm oil daily.

In order to enhance productivity and economic diversity, a total of 140,000 hectares of land was cleared and over 500,000 new palm trees planted.

The administration also diversified the focus of the company to include pineapple plantation. The inclusion of pineapple into Adapalm’s production business is to meet the pineapple needs of Nigeria’s South East.

The revamping of Adapalm followed the out-of-court settlement initiated by Gov. Uzodimma which resolved prolonged differences between the company and its stakeholders. In the new management arrangement of the company led by Roche group, the host communities and the State Government share stakes in the multibillion naira investments in a win-win situation.

This achievement has so far improved the IGR of the State as well as provided jobs for her teeming youths.
