Breaking: Popular Drummer And Dancer Ekene Is Dead
Ekene, popularly known as Awolo Eky D, was a well-known Nigerian drummer and dancer.
One of the drummers on the group that Sinach, a gospel singer, led, was Ekene. I Know Who I Am was played for Sinach by him.
Drum Guruz announced his death on social media:
“It’s so shocking right now knowing one among great Nigeria drummer is isn’t with us in this world any more.”
“Uncle Awolo Eky D. All moments with you can never be forgotten and you have left with us great and amazing things we won’t ever forget keep resting in Peace sir. We love you but God loves you most.”
Sinach took to Instagram on Sunday night March 12, to mourn him, writing: “Rest in the arms of Jesus! This is so hard. Thank you again and again Ekky!!”
Tributes are already pouring in for the late singer whose cause of death has not been made public.
