BRT Bus Driver Involved In Crash With Train Pleads Forgiveness And Blames Car Fault

Published

The driver of the Lagos State Civil Service personnel vehicle that collided with a train on Thursday, March 9, at the PWD/ Shogunle railway line on the Agege motorway in Lagos has pleaded with the accident’s victims to pardon him.

Some of the bus’ injured passengers informed The Sun that the bus’ 44-year-old driver, Oluwaseun Osinbajo, ignored the official from Nigerian Railway who flagged down the bus at the rail line because he was using his earphone while operating the vehicle.

The bus’s mechanical malfunction, according to the driver, was to blame for the event.

Osinbajo was transferred to the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Department from the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation (SCID).

He was said to be overheard narrating to some of his relatives who were waiting for him there.

“It was not my fault. How could I have ignored warning signs? The bus had a mechanical fault. It is a pity this has happened. I beg everyone affected to please forgive me in the name of God,” he said

The accident claimed the lives of six persons and left over 80 others injured. 32 persons have so far been discharged.
