Chelsea issued Joao Felix transfer message

Published

Joao Felix is being linked with a move away from Atletico Madrid and Chelsea have now been told the attacker would be a starter in Thomas Tuchel’s team

The 22-year-old forward moved to Atletico in the summer of 2019 for a whopping £114.8million. Despite showing glimpses of his undeniable talent, he has not really justified the price tag. This season, Felix has scored eight goals and provided four assists for the Madrid-based outfit in La Liga.

Felix still has just over four years remaining on his contract at the Wanda Metropolitano, meaning Atletico remains in a strong position when it comes to his sale. However, if the Spaniards received a bid even close to the fee they paid for him almost three years ago, then they could be tempted to cash in on the Portugal star.

Now, Hargreaves, when speaking on BT Sport, was full of praise for Felix and thinks he could become a regular starter in Chelsea’s side and Liverpool and Manchester City. He said: “I think you watch him and go: ‘He gets into the Liverpool team, he gets into the City team or the Chelsea team.

“His upside is that good. He will get a chance to play in a top team because he is that good.”

At the moment, Thomas Tuchel has an array of talent to choose from in his Chelsea squad. Romelu Lukaku and Kai Havertz are the main options for the central striker role, while the ones that play either side of the number one are two of Mason Mount, Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic.

Adding someone like Felix to the squad would take Chelsea’s attacking options to another level. Also, it looks like at least one of their current attackers could leave the club in the summer transfer window.
