CJN Never Said He’s Happy Makinde Is Among PDP G5 – Supreme Court

Published

The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, was reported as saying that he is pleased that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State is a member of the G5 inside the People’s Democratic Party. The Supreme Court has denounced the claims .

In a statement released on Saturday and signed by the Director of Press and Information at the Supreme Court of Nigeria, Dr. Akande Festus, the Supreme Court categorically denied that the Chief Justice of Nigeria had made such a statement, describing it as a misconception and misrepresentation intended to score a quick political point.

According to the statement, the Chief Justice of the Nation and other senior judicial officials traveled to Rivers State on Thursday and Friday to officially open the two buildings that will house the South-South Liaison Office of the Federal Judicial Service Commission and the Justice Mary Peter-Odili Judicial Institute, an idea developed by the state government.

According to the report, the CJN simply joked at the banquet on Thursday night that because Makinde is closely related to Governor Nyesom Wike and married a Rivers woman, he would be able to imitate his development achievements in Oyo State for the benefit of the populace.

The statement added that anything assumed, presumed, reported or placed in the public domain outside the above facts, is simply a mere figment of the imagination of such authors and don’t in anyway represent what the CJN said in Port Harcourt, adding that they are not ready to join issues with such purveyors of misinformation
