#EndSARS: Nigeria Broadcasting Commission (NBC) Sanctions Arise TV, Channels Television & AIT

Following the #EndSARS protest saga, Three prominent television stations have been sanctioned by National Broadcast Station [NBC] for supposedly airing false pictures and unverified images of the alleged shootings at the Lekki toll gate.

Armstrong Idachaba, on the 26th of October 2020, accused Arise TV, African Independent Television (AIT), and Channels TV of flouting the codes of conduct by airing the unverified images.

The National Broadcast Station also fined them the sum of 3 million naira each, according to Daily News.

Armstrong Idachaba, the Acting-Director of the commission, issued a stern and final warning to DAAR Communication for using unverifiable news on the fire incident on the National Christian Centre and issued a separate fine charge to them, also adding that the next warning would come with a much heavier sanction.
