Euro 2020: Luke Shaw Played With BROKEN RIBS in Three Matches

Published

England left-back Luke Shaw played against Ukraine, Denmark, and Italy at Euro 2020 with broken ribs, according to reports.

The Manchester United left-back was a standout performer for Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions this summer, scoring one goal and supplying three assists in six matches.

It turns out the defender faced Ukraine in the quarter-finals, Denmark in the last four, and Italy in the finale at Wembley with fractured ribs, according to The Telegraph.

The report reveals that the 26-year-old sustained the injury in the last-16 victory over bitter rivals Germany.

The Red Devils are waiting for Shaw to return from his summer break to find out the extent of the damage.

Shaw has struggled with fitness issues and injury setbacks throughout his career but has enjoyed a revival in recent times and impressed as England reached their first major tournament final in 55 years.

The defender opened the scoring inside just two minutes against Italy in the Euro 2020 final on July 11, smashing home Kieran Trippier’s cross at the back post to send England fans into delirium.

In the comfortable 4-0 quarter-final win over Ukraine Shaw supplied two assists – one for his club team-mate Harry Maguire and the other for captain Harry Kane.
