It’s An Insult For APC To Allocate Only House Of Reps’s Deputy To South-East – Ohanaeze

Published

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, the leading Igbo sociocultural organization, has criticized the All Peoples Congress’ (APC) zoning of the Senate’s and the House of Representatives’ top executives.

Ohanaeze called the Deputy Speaker’s appointment to the South-East of Nigeria unreflective, repugnant, and offensive to the Igbo.

This was revealed by the supreme Igbo body in a statement released on Friday in Enugu and signed by Dr. Alex Ogbonnia, national publicity secretary.

Ohanaeze, however, directed all the Igbo lawmakers in the 10th National Assembly to vote against the allocation as shared by the APC according to their discretions irrespective of state, religion or ethnicity.

The statement reads: “The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has watched with grave concern the zoning of principal officers of the Senate and the House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“We have also observed that the All Peoples Congress (APC) zoned the position of the Deputy Speaker to the South East of Nigeria.

“The Ohanaeze Ndigbo states that allocating the position of the Deputy Speaker to the South East is highly unreflective, disgusting and provocative to the Igbo.

“To this end, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide led by Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, directs all the Igbo Lawmakers in the 10th National Assembly to vote according to their discretions irrespective of state, religion or ethnicity.”
