Published

While performing their official duties in Ojota, members of the Tricycle (Keke) Owners And Operators Association of Nigeria (TOOAN) Ojota Branch attacked LASTMA officials with dangerous weapons.

Attacked with cutlasses, iron, broken bottles, and local charms, the LASTMA Officers were forced to leave their places of duty after one of them was gravely hurt.

The attackers hit Officer Oguntimehin Ajibola in the left eye with broken bottles, the Director of the Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, Mr. Adebayo Taofiq, confirmed, adding that Ajibola is now being treated at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital in Ikeja.

Taofiq claims that an initial investigation found that about 20 members of the Tricycle (Keke) Owners Association, Ojota Branch, attacked the officers after learning that the Toyota Camry FKJ 161 HB of their newly elected Chairman (Ojota Branch), known as “Henro,” was impounded by LASTMA Officials at Ojota for illegal diversion.

Taofiq claimed that Mr. Bolaji Oreagba, the general manager of the agency, had confirmed that the incident had been reported to the Area ‘H’ Command of the Nigerian Police in Ogudu, and that attempts were being made to track down and apprehend everyone involved in the unjustified attack.

“We are searching for the attackers with information gathered so far by our intelligence unit. We will ensure that the perpetrators are arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law”, he stated.
