“Lionel Messi Would Have Won 15 Ballon d’Or Awards If He Had Cristiano Ronaldo’s Work Ethic” – Patrice Evra
Lionel Messi would have won 15 Ballon d’Or titles by now, according to Manchester United icon Patrice Evra, if he had the same “work ethic” as his longtime adversary Cristiano Ronaldo.
The argument over who should be crowned the greatest footballer of all time—Messi or Ronaldo—has raged for more than a decade.
Nonetheless, Evra has made his view that Ronaldo deserves the title since ‘God’ gave Messi his ‘gift’ but the Portuguese international had to ‘work or it’.
I want to clarify why I say Ronaldo every time, Evra remarked on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel FIVE. It’s not that he’s our brother; rather, it’s that I love work ethic.
The former Manchester United star went on to add: ‘I feel like Messi, god just gave him a talent and Cristiano had to work for it. He had the talent but he had to work for it.
‘If Messi had the same work ethic as Cristiano Ronaldo, he would probably have like 15 Ballon d’Ors today. I’m just in love with people working hard so that’s why I pick Ronaldo over Messi.’
