Manchester United takes decision on Chelsea’s transfer target, Tchouameni

Published

Manchester United have decided not to battle Premier League rivals Chelsea in the race to sign Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni despite being linked with a move for the midfielder this summer.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side does not expect to make any more signings before the window closes and are more focused on getting players off their books, with Andreas Pereira likely to be the first player out of Old Trafford in a loan move to Flamengo.

Man United and Chelsea are both in the transfer market for a new defensive midfielder and have been eyeing West Ham’s Declan Rice, but the Hammers do not want to sell the England international.

West Ham is expected to demand around £100 million at this late stage in the transfer window for Rice.

That has seen both Man United and Chelsea linked with cheaper alternatives and once again, they have identified the same player, Tchouameni, as a potential solution.

Tchouameni joined Monaco from Bordeaux in January 2020.

The 21-year-old was named Ligue 1’s Young Player of the Year last season. He also made Team of the Year.
