Olamide Badoo Responds To Wizkid’s Comment On Rappers In Nigeria

Published

After Grammy Award winner Wizkid referred to the rap music genre as being boring and dead, popular Nigerian rapper Olamide finally put the matter to rest in a recent social media post.

Remember how The “Essence” crooner sparked outrage on social media a few days ago when he defended Afrobeats over Hip-Hop in an interview with 10 magazine, indirectly criticizing Nigerian rappers.

Wizkid remarked that there is little innovation among these rappers because they all use the same tracks and deliver the same style. Wizkid described Nigerian rappers as broke boys and called them “non-rappers” in another post.

Most Nigerian rappers disapproved of Wizkid’s contentious statement; some threw shade at him, while others defended him, pointing out that everyone was at fault in that discourse.

Rap is never dead, according to Olamide, who recently gave a performance at his signee Asake’s concert in London, UK.

Olamide continued, “Rap is on the increase because there are differences now compared to previously because Nigerian rappers are currently performing well.”

On his official Instagram account, Olamide posted: “We ain’t never left, acting like we back, you should see us now taking pictures acting like we rap.”
