Photos From President Buhari’s Meeting With North-East Governors

President Buhari on Monday August 10, met with some Governors from the six North-East states behind closed doors.

The meeting was also attended by all service chiefs and the Inspector-General of Police.

Speaking at the meeting, Buhari noted that his administration ran on three key principles: security, the economy, and fighting corruption.

He added that based on the level of insecurity his government inherited, the people of the North-East will appreciate what his government has done so far. Buhari also congratulated Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum on his emergence as Chairman of the North-East Governors Forum.

Governor Zulum who addressed newsmen after the meeting, stated that the government must address the remote causes of insurgency in the North-East, which include widespread poverty, illiteracy, and access to farmlands.

The Borno state Governor who declined repeating his allegations of sabotage in the military when asked about the recent attack on his convoy, averred that the military needs more equipment to be successful in tackling insurgency.
