Special Team Has Been Setup To Investigate Attack On Atiku In Borno – IGP

Published

Usman Alkali Baba, the inspector general of police, has stated that a team has been assembled to look into the attack on Atiku Abubakar’s convoy, a member of the People’s Democratic Party, that occurred in Borno state on November 9th.

Alkali, who spoke at the 57th ministerial briefing today, November 10, suggested that the Borno state Police PRO’s assertion that the attack did not take place may have been hasty and inconclusive, necessitating the creation of a team to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the various accounts in order to determine the truth and avoid a repeat.

The IGP underlined that political campaigns and rallies are monitored and given the best protection possible, especially when timely information is supplied about such gatherings.

He also said that though some aspects of police duties have been commercialized to generate more revenue through the Police specialized automated services (POSSAB) portal, this has been abused. He also dismissed claims of unscrupulous persons using portal to gain protection from the police.
