Published

In an accident in the Fidiwo sector of the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, three people were killed and nine others were hurt.

The Federal Road Safety Corps’ Ogun State Command revealed this in a statement on Sunday (FRSC).

Florence Okpe, the state’s FRSC spokesman, claims that the accident on Saturday was brought on by driving too fast and a tyre blowout that resulted in the loss of control.

“The crash occurred on Saturday after Fidiwo Bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. A total of 14 persons were involved, nine persons sustained injuries, while three persons were recorded dead,” the statement read.

“Two vehicles were involved with registration numbers LSR377BL a Nissan car and a Toyota Sienna ABJ24XV.”

The remains of the deceased victims have been placed at the State Hospital morgue in Isara, according to Okpe, who is also the corps’ public education officer. Okpe said the injured victims have been sent to Victory Hospital in Ogere for medical assistance.

Ahmed Umar, the Ogun FRSC Sector Commander, offered his condolences to the victims’ families.

He encouraged drivers to always do a vehicle check before setting off on any journey, inspecting the car’s tyres, engine, lights, and other required components.

The FRSC Sector Commander warned drivers against speeding and emphasized the significance of following traffic laws.
