Goals Highlights
West Ham 2-2 Newcastle (EPL Video Highlight)
West Ham 2-2 Newcastle as Mohammed Kudus, coming in as a substitute, netted his Premier League first goal to earn West Ham a deserved draw.
Newcastle seemed on track to add another win to their remarkable 4-1 Champions League victory against Paris Saint-Germain.
This sentiment came after Alexander Isak’s two rapid goals overpowered Tomas Soucek’s initial score.
However, Kudus, West Ham’s £38 million acquisition from Ajax this summer, delivered a goal just before the final whistle, ensuring a fair point for the home side.
Watch highlight:
Starting off on a high note, West Ham took the early lead with their match’s opening assault, a brilliant setup by Lucas Paqueta that let Emerson Palmieri sprint towards the goal.
Palmieri then passed the ball to Soucek, who effortlessly netted it.
Bruno Guimaraes, fresh off a new deal with Newcastle, was fortunate not to receive a red card after two near-consecutive fouls, one on Emerson and another on James Ward-Prowse.
Despite Newcastle’s dominance over ball possession (72% in the first half), their notable attempts were limited to Miguel Almiron’s off-target 25-yard shot and Dan Burn’s header missing the mark.
David Moyes, reflecting on Paqueta’s standout performance in the 2-1 victory against Freiburg, mentioned that the Brazilian often leaves him in exasperation.
An instance of this was evident during the first half’s extra time, when Paqueta’s overambitious maneuver led to a turnover.
