Published

A Court of Appeal has restored Ademola Adeleke to his position as governor of Osun state.

On Friday, March 24, a three-judge panel presided by by Justice Mohammed Lawal Shuaibu ruled that candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governor Gboyega Oyetola had failed to substantiate claims of overvoting in favor of the People’s Democratic Party. (PDP).

They also pointed out that the election tribunal erred in ruling that Gboyega Oyetola and the All Progressives Congress, the first and second respondents, had established their claim of excessive voting.

The appellate court in a unanimous verdict, also awarded the sum of N500, 000 cost against the APC and its candidate.

It however dismissed Adeleke’s contention that the comments by the chairman of the governorship election petitons tribunal saying “go low low, Buga won” did not amount to bias.
