BREAKING: DSS Denies Rumours It Arrested CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele

The Department of State Services claimed on Saturday that the top banker was not in its custody despite the fact that the Central Bank Governor who had been suspended, Godwin Emefiele, had been taken into jail.

In an email to Vanguard, DSS spokesman Dr. Peter Afunanya provided the clarification.

In response to allegations that the CBN Governor had been detained by the secret police, Afunanya stated: “Emefiele is not currently with the DSS.”

You may recall that some internet media heavily publicized Emefiele’s alleged arrest shortly after the President had suspended him from his position.

It is unclear if he had received an invitation to testify before the DSS, which had planned to take action against him early this year for unknown reasons.
