Christopher Maurice Brown was born in Tappahannock, Virginia on May 5, 1989. His parents are Joyce Hawkins, who worked as a daycare center director, and Clinton Brown, who was a corrections officer.

He has an older sister named Lytrell Bundy. His parents separated when he was young, and unfortunately, his mother faced domestic violence from her new boyfriend.

Chris learned to sing and dance on his own by watching his idols, Usher and Michael Jackson. He was also greatly influenced by his parents’ collection of soul records.
