Manchester United Eyes Chelsea’s Cucurella And Tottenham’s Reguilon Amidst Shaw’s Injury Setback

Published

Manchester United are considering options to acquire Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella and Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilon.

Marc Cucurella

Luke Shaw is expected to be out for at least two months due to a muscular injury, leaving Erik ten Hag with limited choices in the left-back position. Diogo Dalot filled the role during United’s recent challenging game against Nottingham Forest, where they narrowly won 3-2 despite initially being two goals ahead.

Reguilon, who hasn’t seen action for Tottenham since April 2022, had a challenging loan period at Atletico Madrid the previous season. United had shown interest in the Spanish player in 2020 but didn’t finalize the deal.

There are speculations that Reguilon’s salary expectations might be too high for Manchester United.

Ten Hag has publicly expressed the need for a left-back, stating, “We might be in the market for a left-back. We need to be prepared for any scenario. If the right opportunity presents itself, we’ll consider it. But the player has to be a perfect fit. Otherwise, we’ll work with what we have. We had already thought of potential situations before the season started.”

Despite Cucurella’s recent £62million transfer from Brighton to Chelsea, he isn’t the first choice, with Mauricio Pochettino favoring Ben Chilwell in the left wing-back position.

As per Manchester Evening News, both Spanish players are on United’s radar as they aim to secure a dedicated left-back, potentially on a loan deal.
