Mesut Ozil Officially Unveiled As A Fenerbahce Player

Published

Mesut Ozil has been officially presented as a Fenerbahce player after completing his free transfer from Arsenal last week.

The former Germany international has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with the Turkish side.

Ozil ended his eight-year stay in north London after being cast aside by Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta. The 32-year-old had not played for the Gunners since March.

He completed his move to Fenerbahce on Sunday and watched his new team-mates in action earlier this week before being presented to the world’s media on Wednesday.

Ozil sat alongside president Ali Koc and sporting director Emre Belozoglu after posing with the club’s iconic yellow shirt.

His wife Amine Gulse and daughter Eda were also both in attendance as Ozil later took questions from the gathered press.

Ozil said: ‘It was a dream for Fenerbahce, it was a dream for me.

‘I believe that I will win the championship with Fenerbahce. I hope we will be champions and do important things in the Champions League.’

Fenerbahce, who are second in the Turkish Super Lig just two points behind leaders Besiktas, are next in action on Saturday against Rizespor.

It remains to be seen if Ozil will feature as he continues to build up his fitness after such a lengthy spell away from first-team football.
