Nowadays Afrobeats Is Nothing And Lack Substance – Burna Boy

Published

Grammy-winning musician, Burna Boy, recently expressed his belief that Afrobeats lacks depth and substance.

He voiced his opinion that a large portion, about 90%, of Afrobeats songs do not reflect genuine life experiences but merely present an overly positive view of life.

The artist, often referred to as the “African Giant,” shared these sentiments during an Apple Music interview.

He said:

“Many of these artists, almost 90% in fact, don’t have real-life experiences they can relate to.”

“That’s why when you listen to much of Nigerian, African, or Afrobeats music, as many label it, it often seems empty and superficial.”

“It’s all about having a good time, ignoring the fact that life isn’t always joyous.”

Burna Boy’s remarks have ignited a mix of responses online, with some supporting his view, while others accuse him of arrogance.
