Published

A staff of the Mayo Belwa Local Government Council in Adamawa State, Seth Adamu, has been killed in a night attack.

The night marauders who attacked Bekusun, a village in the council area, gunned down Seth Adamu and shot one of his neighbours in the leg.

Our correspondent gathered the attack took place in the early hours of Monday.

According to one of the sources identified as Dingle Andrew, Seth Adamu who was famously called Daddy and son of a former state lawmaker, was killed in the attack.

The Information Officer of the Mayo Belwa Local Government Council, Kabiru Babakeli, confirmed Adamu’s killing.

He said, “Yes, they attacked Bekusun village. The deceased is Seth, son of a former member Kwante.”

The ‘former member,’ Adamu Kwante, who once represented Nasarawo/Biyeri constituency in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, is himself late.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, could not confirm Adamu’s killing by the time this report was filed.

He, however, told our correspondent on phone that he was out for lockdown enforcement duty and had not been briefed about the Mayo Belwa incident.

Mayo Belwa, a town and Local Government Area is about 70 kilometres away from the state capital, Yola. It has, in recent months, witnessed different killings and attacks.

Notably, a cleric and politician, Rev Dennis Bagauri was killed in January; and earlier in August 2019, a famous zonal chairman of Miyetti-Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Sa’adu Kolaku, was killed at his residence during a night attack.
