2023 elections: Obsanjo Requests Buhari To Cancel The Elections
Olusegun Obasanjo, a former president, has responded to the uproar around the recently held presidential and national assembly elections.
Obasanjo claimed in an open letter to President Buhari that the latter had repeatedly pledged to ensure that Nigerians had a free and fair election before he left office and that he shouldn’t permit anyone, especially INEC personnel, to tarnish his reputation.
Because INEC personnel did not use the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) and the Server purchased for the electronic transmission of election results, the former president claimed that INEC employees were hacked during the polls.
Obasanjo pointed out that even though INEC chairman, Yakubu Mahmood, wants to claim to be ignorant of these fraudulent activities, he should not fold his hands and allow the corrupt actions of some of the commission’s staff to go on without correcting them.
He stated that if INEC chairman knows his hands are clean, he should save Nigeria from the looming disaster waiting to happen as a result of the “flawed” election.
He called on President Buhari to order the cancellation of any result that the credibility is in doubt and order a fresh election in such places where elections were disrupted for next Saturday, March 4th 2023.
